About Persian-speaking Translators
Persian-speaking translators and interpreters in Germany, for the point where an office, a university, a court or a notary will not take your document as it stands. Most people arrive needing one specific thing: a certified translation, signed and stamped by a translator a German court has authorised to certify. This page is not legal advice, and no page can promise that a particular office will accept a particular document.
What the Verified badge does and does not say
Verified says one thing only: a real person stands behind this profile and manages it themselves. YabInfy does not check anyone's certificates, licences, experience or competence, and the badge is not for sale. You can check a court authorisation yourself: the state justice administrations keep a public database of sworn interpreters and authorised translators at justiz-dolmetscher.de, searchable by language, place and court.
A certified translation is a different product from a translation
This distinction decides almost everything else here, and it is the one people discover too late.
- A certified translation (beglaubigte Übersetzung) carries a signed, stamped statement from the translator that it is complete and accurate. The statement also records what they worked from: the original, a certified copy, or a plain copy.
- Only a translator authorised by a German court may issue one. The word for it differs by Bundesland, and you will see all of them on profiles and stamps: beeidigt, vereidigt, ermächtigt, öffentlich bestellt. They mean the same court authorisation, and one granted in one Bundesland is generally recognised in the others.
- An ordinary translation carries no such statement, however good it is. To understand a letter, or for a job application, it is often enough and costs less.
- Ask the receiving office before you pay for either. Only the body receiving the document decides what it accepts: not the translator, and not this site. One email settles it. Must the translation be made by a translator sworn in Germany specifically, and will a signed PDF do or do you need stamped paper.
Translating and interpreting are separate bookings
An Übersetzer works on text. A Dolmetscher works on speech, in the room, in real time. Different skills, authorised separately, and being here for one does not mean a person does the other, so somebody sitting beside you at an appointment is its own booking. You may also be paying for something you would be given: a court usually appoints and pays its own interpreter for a hearing, and at a notarial signing German law requires the notary to bring an interpreter in where a party does not understand enough German, the notary deciding whether that person must be sworn for the purpose. Ask the court, the notary or the office how they handle it before hiring anyone.
The documents people come here for
This list has no sub-categories at all, so nothing on the page tells you who handles what. The headings below are not filters: ask on the profile, or in your first message.
- Civil-status documents for the Standesamt: birth, marriage, divorce and death certificates, and a certificate of no impediment to marriage. These go into German registers, which is why the spelling question below bites hardest here.
- Certificates and transcripts, to get a qualification recognised: school certificates, degrees, transcripts, and for a regulated profession the licence itself. The body assessing it says what it needs and in what form.
- A driving licence, to exchange for a German one. Ask the Fahrerlaubnisbehörde first, because it may also want a classification stating which German licence classes yours corresponds to, which is a separate service.
- Court, police and authority documents: decisions, summonses, judgments, letters with a running deadline. Where there is a deadline, see the lawyers about it first and order the translation second.
- Medical reports from treatment abroad, to take to a doctor here. A plain translation usually does; ask for a certified one where an insurer or an authority will file it.
- Contracts, powers of attorney and company documents, where a notary or a bank is at the other end.
An apostille is not a translation
An apostille, or a legalisation, is a confirmation attached to the original by an authority in the country that issued it, saying the signature and seal are genuine. It happens before the translation and separately from it. No translator can supply one, and no translation replaces one.
Not every country is party to the apostille convention. Where the issuing country is not, the route is consular legalisation or a verification procedure the German authority asks for instead, and that can run for months. So ask the receiving office which applies to your document and start that step first, because it is the slow one. The apostille itself normally has to be translated too.
How this is priced in Germany
- Text is charged by the line or by the page, not by the hour. A standard line (Normzeile) is 55 characters including spaces, so a one-page certificate crowded with headings and seals can cost more than its size suggests.
- For the common certificates many quote a flat price per document instead, which is often the better deal. Ask for both figures.
- Certification and extra copies are charged separately. Decide at the start how many stamped copies you need: ordering a second later means paying the certification again.
- Where a court or an authority commissions the work itself, a statutory scale (the JVEG) sets the fee per 55 characters. That governs the state's own commissions and is not a lever to argue a private quote down.
What to send, and the thing about your name
- Send a clean, complete scan of the whole document, both sides, including a back page that looks empty and every stamp in the margin.
- Ask whether the original has to be posted or shown in person, because the translator's statement records what they worked from and some offices want it to say the original.
- The spelling of your name matters more than almost anything else here. For entries in German registers a name in another script is transliterated by a fixed rule rather than translated, and where your passport spells it differently the office will generally follow the passport. So send a passport copy and say which spelling already appears on your German paperwork. A name spelled two ways across two documents becomes a correction procedure years later, at the worst possible moment. Say the same for place names and your parents' names.
What to ask before you order
- Which authorisation they hold and from which court, and whether it covers the direction you need. Authorisation can run one way and not the other.
- Which target language, and for which office. Into German, and into English for an authority abroad, are different jobs.
- The price in writing, with the delivery date, and how many certified copies it includes.
- Whether you get stamped paper, a signed PDF or both, and what happens if the office rejects it.
- Whether the same person also interprets, if you will need that too.
- YabInfy checks none of this, so ask for it yourself, and ask to see the document where it matters.
Distance barely matters for this one
Of everything on this site, this is the work where the address of the person doing it counts for least: documents travel as scans, finished paper comes back by post, and an authorisation from a court in one Bundesland is generally accepted across the country. So turnaround and postage decide your choice, not the map. If you would rather hand a document over yourself, the city list at the foot of this page is where to start.
Choosing someone from here
Read the reviews for what a customer can genuinely judge: whether the quote held, whether the date held, and whether names were spelled as asked. Whether an authority accepted a document is not entirely in the translator's hands, so one bad outcome is not a verdict on the work. On privacy, both halves hold: YabInfy never shows who viewed a profile or who asked for a quote, while a review you write is public under a name you choose, so you can write about the service and leave your own circumstances out. Contact details sit behind "Show contact details" and reach the business directly.
If a court or an authority is at the other end of your document, the lawyers page is the other half of that problem, and for reports from treatment abroad start with the doctors. If what you really want is to stop needing translations, that is the German language teachers. There is more in the FAQ, and if you translate professionally, add your business.
