What the Verified badge does and does not say
Verified says one thing only: a real person stands behind this profile and manages it themselves. YabInfy does not check anyone's certificates, licences, experience or competence, and the badge is not for sale. Doctors here are licensed through the Ärztekammer Nordrhein, and Aachen has its own city district office within that chamber, which is where a question about a doctor's membership belongs.
Why a Persian-speaking doctor here is not simply a convenience
This is rarely said plainly. Statutory health insurance in Germany does not pay for an interpreter at an outpatient appointment. So if your German is not good enough to describe pain or to follow what a medication does, you either bring somebody with you, or you pay an interpreter yourself, or you get through the appointment on partial language.
All three cost you something. Bringing somebody means a person taking time off and hearing your medical history. A private interpreter is expensive. Partial language shows itself at the exact moment the doctor asks when it started and you cannot convey the difference between a stabbing pain and a burning one, and that single distinction can move a diagnosis.
So when you find a doctor who understands Persian, what you have gained is not comfort. You have removed an intermediary from the middle of your own care.
Distance is a small problem in Aachen. The border is the real feature
Aachen is compact and crossing it is no ordeal, so distance is a poor way to choose between doctors here. What sets this city apart is the border. Belgium and the Netherlands are close, and people cross for all sorts of things.
For medical treatment there are rules attached. Planned treatment in another country normally has to be agreed with your insurer beforehand, and without that agreement you may be left with the bill. Make that one phone call before you book anything on the other side of the border.
Questions that only apply here
- At the first appointment, ask whether the doctor speaks Persian themselves or whether somebody in the practice helps out. These are not the same thing.
- Do they take public insurance patients, or private only?
- If you need a referral into the university hospital here, will they write it?
- If you work in Belgium or the Netherlands, will they issue documents and prescriptions in a form that will be accepted there?
- YabInfy checks none of this, so ask for it yourself, and ask to see the document where it matters.
If this group is not big enough for you
Aachen is a university city with a university hospital, so most specialties exist here even where the Persian-speaking doctor for them is not on our list. If you cannot find somebody, two practical routes remain. Ask your own GP to refer you, because they know which colleague already sees many Persian-speaking patients.
