What the Verified badge does and does not say

Verified says one thing only: a real person stands behind this profile and manages it themselves. Turn your insurance card over

Most people carry the card for years without noticing that the back of it is the European Health Insurance Card. That one thing matters whenever you travel within the EU and a few countries beyond it.

With it, you receive the same necessary and urgent treatment in the destination country that somebody insured there would receive, on the same terms and with the same patient contribution. Which means that in some countries you may have to pay part of it in cash and submit the receipt to your insurer afterwards.

There are things it does not do, and this is where people are caught out. It does not cover treatment you planned in advance. It does not cover bringing a patient back to Germany, which on a long trip is a large sum. And outside the EU, including on a trip to Iran, it does not work at all. Those need separate travel insurance. Ask your own insurer before you go which countries and which costs are covered.

A small city between two centres

Worms sits on the Rhine between Mainz and Mannheim and is close to both. The list of doctors here is short, and looking in both directions makes sense.

Just remember that Mannheim is in another federal state and Mainz is in this one. For treatment that makes no difference; for out-of-hours cover it does. Ask your own practice once whose system applies to you and write the answer down.
