The on-call number does a second job most people never hear about

Everybody knows 116117 as the number for out-of-hours care. The same number is also the appointment service. If your GP has referred you to a specialist and every practice is quoting months, that service is obliged to find you an appointment within a defined period.

Know the rules before you call so you do not waste the attempt. For most specialties you need a referral with a referral code written on it. The appointment they find will not necessarily be the nearest practice and will not necessarily be the doctor you wanted, but it is an appointment that exists. For a GP, a gynaecologist or an eye doctor you generally do not need a referral at all.

In Bavaria this service is run by the Kassenärztliche Vereinigung Bayerns, the same body that decides how many practices in a given area may treat publicly insured patients.

Treat Augsburg and München as one catchment

The group registered in Augsburg is small, and if you look only inside the city boundary your choice narrows sharply. München is about half an hour away by train and holds the largest set of Persian-speaking doctors in Bavaria.

For an annual check or a specialist opinion, half an hour is not a bad trade. For treatment that repeats every week, it is. So decide on the basis of how many times you will have to make the journey, not on the distance on a map.

If this group is not big enough for you

Before you plan a trip to München, ask your own GP once. Practices that already see many Persian-speaking patients tend to be known to the doctors around them, even when they appear on no list anywhere. If that leads nowhere, look at the other Bavarian cities on this site and phone first to ask whether they are taking new patients.

Reviews and privacy

Nothing about looking is recorded. Opening a doctor's profile leaves no trace, and we never show who approached whom. Should you write a review, that is public, and the name on it is the one you entered. In a city where the Persian-speaking community is small, a short name is the sensible choice.

What helps the next reader is the practical detail: how long it took to get an appointment, whether they saw you near your slot time, and whether the explanation made sense to you. Do not pass judgement on whether the treatment was right. Take that to another doctor.
