About Persian-speaking Surgeons
Persian-speaking surgeons in Germany, for the part of care where a newcomer is most lost: an operation planned in advance. A non-urgent operation here is a chain of separate appointments, each in a different room or building and often with a new person, and nobody is obliged to hand you the whole map at once. This page is that map, plus the questions that stay unanswered unless you ask them.
In an emergency, or if there is a risk to life, call 112. Outside surgery hours the medical on-call service answers on 116 117, and it can also help you find an appointment. This page is only a directory and is not an emergency service.
What the Verified badge does and does not say
Verified says one thing only: a real person stands behind this profile and manages it themselves. YabInfy does not check anyone's certificates, licences, experience or competence, and the badge is not for sale.
A surgeon in a practice, a surgeon in a hospital, and who actually operates
Some surgeons work in a practice: examinations, consultations, small day-case procedures, and the follow-up afterwards. Others operate in a hospital, where the theatre, the anaesthesia team and the beds are.
Here is the part that rarely gets said out loud. The person who examines you and talks you through the operation does not have to be the person who performs it. Theatre lists are finalised close to the day, and in teaching hospitals one surgeon often operates under a senior one's supervision. This is neither secrecy nor disrespect, just something nobody volunteers if you do not ask. So ask plainly: who will operate on me, when is that fixed, and how will I know on the day.
Day surgery and staying overnight
More is done as a day case (ambulant) than most people expect: you arrive in the morning and sleep at home the same night. What can be done that way depends on the procedure, the anaesthesia, your other conditions and your situation at home, and the clinical team decides that, not you and not this page.
Being a day case moves a few things onto you: you cannot drive after anaesthesia, somebody should ideally be home for the first night, and dressings and pain relief need to be in the house already. So ask whether it is day surgery or an inpatient stay, how many nights, and which number to call overnight.
The pathway for a planned operation
- Assessment. The surgeon reviews your imaging and results and says whether an operation is indicated, and by which method. Ask here what happens if you do nothing, and whether there is another route.
- Pre-operative workup. Bloods, an ECG, imaging, depending on your age and condition. Some of it is done by your GP, so expect one extra journey.
- The anaesthesia consultation. A separate appointment with an anaesthetist, usually on another day and elsewhere in the building. Not a formality: the anaesthesia is decided there, and your medication list and your reactions are what it runs on.
- The consent conversation. The explanation of the operation and its risks (Aufklärung), and your signature. It has to come far enough ahead that you have time to think.
- Admission. On the day or the day before, with your insurance card and photo ID. Fasting, which medicines to stop or continue, and the arrival time should come in writing. If not, ask.
- Follow-up. The appointment afterwards, the stitches coming out, and the note that says you are done. This piece falls through most often, because it usually happens somewhere other than where you were operated.
The right to a second opinion, and why asking is not an insult
For certain planned procedures, people with statutory insurance have a legal right to a second opinion, and the doctor recommending it has to point that right out and release your records. Which procedures are on that list is set centrally and changes, so ask your insurer whether yours is one. If a second opinion reads as distrust of the doctor where you come from, it does not read that way here: it is a normal, formal route. It takes time, so start early rather than the week before.
Consent: this is where a shared language stops being a nicety
What you sign says what will be done, by which approach, with which risks, and what the alternatives are. Three things: you can withdraw consent any time before the operation, you are entitled to keep asking until you understand and asking twice is not rude, and you can bring somebody with you. If the conversation is in a language you only half follow, say so, and ask whether the hospital brings in a professional interpreter and who pays. The answer is not the same everywhere. No conversation on this pathway needs a shared language as badly as this one, and a surgeon who speaks Persian removes the problem.
After discharge: the wound, the dressings, and the letter
On discharge you get a doctor's letter: what was done, which medication and for how long, and what the follow-up should be. Keep a copy, and get one to your family doctor.
Before you leave, get these straight: who changes the dressing and how often, where the stitches come out, when you may shower, which sign means call today, and what date the next appointment is. Stitches usually come out at the family practice or the surgeon's own practice, not back in the hospital. If you need physiotherapy or care at home, get the prescription there, then look for a Persian speaker under Allied health.
How long will I be off work?
Ask before you decide, not after the operation. There are two answers: the length of the stay, and the time you genuinely cannot work. The second is what wrecks travel, shifts and exams, and the one people forget to ask about. Say what your job involves, because desk work and physical work do not get the same answer.
What to bring
On top of what any medical appointment needs, build a separate folder for an operation:
- The referral and the letter from whoever sent you.
- Imaging on a disc, together with the written report. A disc with no report is half the job.
- A medication list with active ingredients and doses, including what you would not count as medicine: herbal tablets, supplements, drops. Which of it matters is the anaesthetist's call.
- A note of anything you have ever reacted to: a drug, wound tape, latex, contrast agent, or anaesthesia in an earlier operation.
- Reports from previous operations, and the card for any implant or device you carry.
Pick the right door
This category has no sub-specialties, so the list itself will not tell you what a given surgeon works on. Read the Specialty section and the bio on the profile, and if it is still unclear, ask when you call.
For bones, joints and sports injuries, go to Orthopedists. For appearance and reconstruction after an injury, Plastic surgeons are their own category, and for the brain and spine, Neurosurgeons. Every other field is reachable from Doctors.
What to ask when you call
- Whether the operation happens at the practice or in a hospital, and which hospital.
- Who performs the operation, and whether the consultation is with that same person.
- Whether the surgeon speaks Persian, or somebody else at the practice does. For the consent conversation that difference matters.
- Whether the follow-up and the stitches are with them or with your family doctor.
- Whether you get a written price in advance for anything the insurer will not pay.
- YabInfy checks none of this, so ask for it yourself, and ask to see the document where it matters.
Choosing from this list
Reviews help here, but not as a verdict on what happened in theatre, which no patient can judge. What it does carry: whether it was explained or you were handed a form, whether the follow-up was organised, and whether anybody answered the phone.
Surgery happens to a body, so you have to be in the room, and travelling to another city for a planned operation is not unusual. If there is no Persian-speaking surgeon where you live, open another city from the list at the foot of this page.
On every profile the contact details stay behind "Show contact details", and they take you to the practice itself, not to YabInfy. Nobody here can see which page you opened or who you approached. A review, by contrast, goes public under the name you pick for it.
This page has no view on whether you should have an operation; that conversation belongs to you and your doctor. What a list like this can do is let you have it in the language you are precise in. There is more about how the site works in the FAQ, and if you run a surgical practice, add your business.
