About Persian-speaking Dermatologists
Dermatology in Germany is really two practices sharing one waiting room. One side is medical and paid for by your insurance: a rash that will not settle, a mole you noticed last month, an allergy nobody has pinned down. The other is cosmetic and paid for by you. Many practices run both, and the difference matters from the first phone call: it decides who pays, how soon you are seen, and what you sign.
In an emergency, or if there is a risk to life, call 112. Outside surgery hours the medical on-call service answers on 116 117, and it can also help you find an appointment. This page is only a directory and is not an emergency service.
What the Verified badge does and does not say
Verified says one thing only: a real person stands behind this profile and manages it themselves. YabInfy does not check anyone's certificates, licences, experience or competence, and the badge is not for sale.
The insured side and the self-pay side
Ask on the first call which side your appointment is being booked on; the desk hears that question all day. A service your insurance does not cover is called an Individuelle Gesundheitsleistung, IGeL for short, and for a statutory patient it is not a handshake arrangement: the practice must tell you in writing what it costs and take your written agreement before it happens, and where no such agreement exists there is nothing to pay. A price mentioned across the counter is the moment to ask for the paper, not to nod.
This page has no sub-categories, so the width of the field is invisible from the list: ask what a practice does in-house (allergy testing, removing and sending off a skin lesion, laser work, long-term conditions, children) and what it sends on.
Why the appointment is so far off
Practices explain it structurally: the statutory work billable in a quarter is capped while a self-pay consultation is not, so those slots open sooner.
- Say which of three things you are calling about: a screening, a change you have noticed, or a cosmetic consultation. They go into different kinds of slot and nobody at the desk can guess.
- Ask what the practice does with a change somebody noticed this week. Some keep a short acute slot early in the morning for exactly that.
- Ask to be called if something falls through, and say how fast you could actually get there.
The screening you have to claim
From the age of 35, statutory insurance covers a skin cancer screening every two years. It is an entitlement rather than an invitation: nobody writes to remind you, so you say the word when you book. Some insurers pay for it earlier or more often, which varies from insurer to insurer, so ask yours.
The covered examination is a look over the whole skin, and if the doctor picks up a handheld dermatoscope during it to inspect one spot closely, that is covered too. What gets sold on top is something else: photographing your moles and storing the images for comparison, or the same screening before 35 or more often than every two years. Before agreeing, ask what that adds in your case to the examination insurance already pays for.
Photograph it before you go
Skin changes and the appointment may be weeks away, so start the record now, in good even light, once close and once further back so the position on the body is obvious, with a ruler or a coin in the frame for scale. Keep the date, repeat it in the same light every couple of weeks, and bring the series with you. It tells you nothing, though, and neither does any list on the internet or any directory page: whether a skin change matters is not a question this page can touch. If something is bleeding, changing fast or painful, say so on the telephone rather than in an email.
Allergy testing, and what a result does not settle
In the prick test, drops of test substances go on the forearm or the back and are pricked through the surface, and the reaction is read a quarter of an hour later in the same appointment. The patch test is the slow one: patches are taped to your back for a day or two, then come off and are read, and are read once more a day or two later. In practice, several visits inside about a week, plus rules on keeping your back dry and out of the sun: ask for those when you book.
Antihistamines and cortisone can flatten a skin test and often need pausing for some days beforehand, and how many depends on the drug and on the practice. Ask when you make the appointment, and never stop something you were prescribed on your own decision. Nor is a result the end of it: a positive test says your body reacts to that substance, and whether it explains what has been happening to you is settled by matching it against your own history. You leave with a plan, not a verdict.
A long-term condition is a relationship, not an appointment
Some skin conditions are managed over years rather than closed in a visit, and a practice that has watched your skin across seasons is worth more than a faster appointment somewhere new. Bring the names of everything you have used, including what a pharmacy sold you without a prescription and what you brought from another country.
If it is cosmetic, get the number in writing
- Ask for the total in writing first, follow-ups and any second session included, not the price of one unit or one syringe.
- Ask who will hold the needle or the laser, by name and by qualification.
- Ask what happens if the result needs correcting: whether it can be, and who pays.
- Be wary of a price quoted only inside a messaging app or a social account. If the number will not survive a practice letterhead, that is the finding.
Children's skin
For a child the paediatrician is usually the right first door, and refers on when a dermatologist is needed. Some dermatology practices take children and a few make a point of it, others would rather not, so ask from what age they see them.
What to ask when you call
- Whether the doctor holds the specialist title, Facharzt für Haut- und Geschlechtskrankheiten, which the state medical chamber awards after years of further training. Anyone may call themselves a skin expert; that title is a different thing.
- Whether this appointment is billed to your insurance or to you.
- Whether anything you take needs pausing before a test, and from which day.

Choosing from this list
Skin has to be looked at, in daylight, by someone standing next to you, so the appointment here is unavoidably physical and your city genuinely narrows the list. A photograph helps the conversation; it does not stand in for the examination.
Reviews tell you what a patient can judge: the wait, whether the cost was clear before the treatment rather than after. They cannot tell you whether a diagnosis was correct, and a disappointing result is not evidence of a poor doctor. Every profile keeps its number behind "Show contact details", and it is the practice's own line. On privacy both halves hold: YabInfy never shows who looked at a profile or who got in touch, while a review you write is public, under whatever name you give it, so decide the name before the words.
