About Persian-speaking Dentists
Persian-speaking dentists across Germany, and a page that is mostly about money. Dentistry is the one area of German healthcare where the insurer fixes its contribution in advance, as a number, and leaves the rest with you, so what you pay depends less on the quality of the work than on a few sheets of paper nobody translates for newcomers. And you cannot hold a conversation with your mouth open: every explanation, and every "no", has to be said before you lie back in the chair.
If there is a risk to life, such as bleeding that will not stop or swelling that makes breathing hard, call 112. For pain or swelling when practices are closed there is an on-call dental service: 116 117 reaches the dentist on duty in your region, and the state chamber of dentists (Landeszahnärztekammer) publishes the roster. This page is only a directory and is not an emergency service.
What the Verified badge does and does not say
Verified says one thing only: a real person stands behind this profile and manages it themselves. YabInfy does not check anyone's certificates, licences, experience or competence, and the badge is not for sale. For dentistry there is a clear route to check for yourself: each state chamber of dentists (Landeszahnärztekammer) keeps the register of licensed dentists with a public search, and the regional association of statutory-insurance dentists (Kassenzahnärztliche Vereinigung) lists the practices approved to treat statutory patients.
One list, with no sub-categories
This section has no sub-categories. A general dentist, an orthodontist (Kieferorthopäde), an oral surgeon (Oralchirurg), a gum specialist and a practice that mostly does implants and prosthetics all sit in one list, and the "Specialty" filter has nothing to separate them by. So ask the practice yourself what it does in house and what it refers out. The city list, including Berlin and Hamburg, is at the bottom of this page.
Standard care and the fixed subsidy: the rule the whole bill rests on
Statutory insurance covers standard care (Regelversorgung): examinations, diagnosis, treatment of pain and decay, and for each condition of the mouth one standard solution regarded as sufficient and economical. Crowns, bridges, dentures and implants work differently: the insurer pays no percentage of your bill there, it pays a fixed subsidy (Festzuschuss).
"Fixed" means the amount follows the state of your mouth, not the treatment you choose: each clinical finding has a figure set in advance, currently sixty per cent of the average cost of standard care for that finding. Want something dearer, and the subsidy does not move:
- Equivalent care (gleichartig): standard care plus an extra, say a metal crown with a ceramic facing. Only the extra is billed privately.
- Different care (andersartig): a wholly different solution, say an implant instead of a bridge. The whole treatment is billed on the private dental scale (GOZ), and from the insurer you still get only that same fixed subsidy.
Below an income ceiling published each year, the hardship rule (Härtefallregelung) can cover standard care in full; ask your insurer for the current figure.
The Bonusheft: the cheapest thing you can do for your teeth
The rule is simple and most people learn it too late. With five consecutive years of stamps, the fixed subsidy rises from sixty to seventy per cent; with ten, to seventy-five. For adults one recorded check-up per calendar year is enough; for children and adolescents up to eighteen, two preventive appointments a year are recorded.
Here is the expensive part: one missed calendar year restarts the count from zero. The booklet is also yours, and keeping it is your job; if you change practice and are given a new one, do not throw the old one away, because only together do they prove those years. Some insurers forgive a single gap within the ten-year span, so ask yours rather than relying on what you have been told.
The treatment and cost plan: what has to be written on it
The treatment and cost plan (Heil- und Kostenplan) is a standard form, not a favour. It has to set out separately the clinical finding for each tooth, the standard treatment for that finding, the treatment the practice proposes, the insurer's fixed subsidy and your own estimated share. The insurer has to see it and fix the subsidy, and work does not begin before that approval, which takes a few days and then holds for around six months.
For expensive work, remember that a plan is an opinion: you can take the same finding to another practice and get a second one, which your insurer then approves separately. Your own share can differ noticeably between the two, because the subsidy stays the same and it is the practice's bill that changes.
What usually lands on a private bill
- Scale removal and a professional clean are not the same thing. Scale removal (Zahnsteinentfernung) is in the statutory package; a professional dental clean (professionelle Zahnreinigung) is not. Many insurers pay a voluntary contribution towards it anyway, and how much varies a great deal, so before you book, ask the practice its price and your insurer its share.
- Filling materials. Amalgam has been banned across the EU since the start of 2025, and your entitlement to a suitable filling at no extra cost remains, back teeth included; anything beyond that standard is yours to pay for.
Anything the insurer will not pay for needs your signature on a private cost agreement, and signing before reading is where most of the money goes.
Orthodontics: children and adults are two different accounts
Severity is graded on a five-level scale called KIG, and it is the grade that decides, not what you see in the mirror. For under-eighteens, statutory insurance usually pays from grade three upwards; grades one and two count in practice as cosmetic. Even then, parents put up twenty per cent first and the insurer returns it once treatment is successfully completed, falling to ten per cent from the second child. So that twenty per cent is a deposit, not a cost: keep the receipts.
After eighteen the rule narrows sharply: orthodontics is normally private, and statutory insurance pays only for severe jaw anomalies, and then only where combined orthodontic and jaw surgery is required. The assessment sits with the specialist and your insurer, so get approval in writing before you commit to anything.
Fear of the dentist, and records you brought from another country
Fear of the dentist is not a small thing, and the useful question is how a practice works with it: whether they give a first appointment just to talk, whether they explain before they do anything, and whether there is an agreed signal for "stop". Here a practice that speaks your language is not a comfort but a working tool: you have to be able to give that signal and be understood.
Dental x-rays and treatment records from another country are worth bringing, and cut down on repeat imaging. A cost plan written for you abroad does not carry over, though: the fixed subsidy depends on a plan written by a practice in Germany and approved by your insurer. If you have work already started elsewhere, say so at the first appointment.
What to ask when you call
- Whether you get the cost plan in writing before anything starts, and whether they send it to the insurer themselves.
- Whether they will write out the standard treatment and the dearer proposal separately, with your share under each.
- Whether they do orthodontics, surgery and implants in house or refer them out.
- Whether they stamp the check-up booklet, and have a slot free before the year ends.
- Who at the practice speaks Persian, and whether they are there on the day of your appointment.
- YabInfy checks none of this, so ask for it yourself, and ask to see the document where it matters.
Choosing from this list
In dentistry, reviews are useful about specific things: whether the cost plan arrived in writing before the work, whether the final figure matched the estimate, whether pain was taken seriously. None of it is a verdict on clinical skill. Contact details sit behind "Show contact details & address" and reach the practice directly.
Privacy here has two halves: YabInfy does not show who viewed this page or who opened a set of contact details, so going to see a dentist stays your own business, while a review you write is public, under a name you choose yourself.
For other medical fields see Doctors, and for physiotherapy and care services Allied health. If you run a practice, add your business. There is more about this site in the FAQ.
