A haircut is one of the few things you have to describe before it exists, sitting with your back to the mirror. Cutting and colour, threading and facial hair removal, brow shaping, makeup and bridal work, nails: all of it sits together here, because this page has no sub-categories and the businesses are not sorted by what they do. Nothing in a salon's name or address tells you which of those it offers: some do hair only, some only nails and brows, some the lot under one roof. So name the thing you want and ask whether they do it, before you go anywhere.

What the Verified badge does and does not say

Verified says one thing only: a real person stands behind this profile and manages it themselves. YabInfy does not check anyone's certificates, licences, experience or competence, and the badge is not for sale. There is one thing about the trade itself you can follow up on: hairdressing in Germany is a Meisterpflicht trade, so running an independent hairdressing business normally requires a master craftsman qualification, and the business is entered in the Handwerksrolle kept by the local chamber of skilled crafts (Handwerkskammer), which is who to ask if that matters to you; that entry concerns the hair side of the work and does not cover every service a salon offers.

What is on this page, and what to establish before you go

Since the page does not sort them for you, that job is yours. These are the kinds of work that turn up under this heading, and few salons do all of them:

• Hair: cuts, colour and roots, highlights, bleaching, straightening and keratin, and styling for occasions. This is the slowest and the most expensive part of the trade.
• Threading and facial hair removal, known here by the English name Threading, and not offered everywhere. Ask for it by name, because often one person in the salon does it and only on certain days.
• Brows: shaping, tinting, and in some places longer lasting work. For anything that puts pigment under the skin, ask separately who performs it and what training they have.
• Makeup and bridal work, which behaves differently from the rest: booked months ahead, usually with a trial session, sometimes done at your address rather than theirs.
• Nails: manicure and pedicure, gel and extensions, repairs and infills.

There is one question only you can ask. Some salons are women only or men only, others take everyone in one open room with a window onto the street. If you want to sit without a headscarf, that has to be settled on the phone: whether there is a separate room, whether the window is covered, whether they give private slots or times outside opening hours. No directory can tell you this and one short call will.

Why sharing a language matters more here than you would think

Most people assume hair is not a language problem, because in the end it is done with hands. The first appointment here usually corrects that: what has to cross is description, not instruction.

• "Short" is not a measurement. Short to you and short to the person holding the scissors are two different lengths, and the gap only becomes visible once the hair is on the floor. Talk in centimetres, show it with your fingers against the hair, and bring pictures: one of what you want, and one of what you do not.
• What has been on the hair matters more than what you like. Henna, a box dye from home, bleach, a keratin treatment. Colour behaves one way on untouched hair and another on hair that has been coloured, and the colourist needs that history before anything is mixed, which means saying exactly when and exactly what.
• Allergies and past reactions. If your scalp or face has ever reacted to a colour or to any other product, that sentence has to come out whole and accurate, not gestured at and smiled through.
• The running commentary in the chair. Mid-appointment you can still say "a shade lighter" or "that is enough off the front", but only if the sentence arrives at the moment it is needed. Someone translating in their head usually stays quiet until it is over.

Before colour: the patch test, and the strand test

Hair colour is a chemical product and its manufacturer writes instructions for it. Part of those instructions is an allergy test before the colour goes on: a small amount is put on the skin behind the ear or inside the elbow, and a set period has to pass before it is read. That period is not decided by the salon and it is not something this page can give you, because it is printed in the instructions for that specific product. The practical consequence: if you have never used the product, booking a colour may mean two trips rather than one. Ask on the first call when and where the test is done.

The second test is about the hair rather than about you. If henna or a home dye has been on it, the colourist may want to try a single strand first to see how the colour takes. That is competence, not hesitation. If you know what has been used, say so from the start, even if it was last year.

How the price is put together

• The unit is the service, not the hour. Price lists are usually built from the type of work (cut, colour, highlights) and the length of the hair (short, medium, long), and long or thick hair can move you up a bracket, since it takes more product and more time.
• The final figure is a sum of items. Washing, blow dry and styling, treatments and masks may each be charged separately. Before anyone touches your hair, ask what the whole thing comes to.
• Look for the price list. Most salons keep one on the door or inside, and a place that finds the question awkward is not a good place to start.
• Settle payment in advance. Small salons do not always have a card terminal and may want cash. Ask when you book rather than at the till.
• Tipping is customary and the amount is yours to decide. It usually goes in cash to the person who did the work, even when the bill itself was paid by card.

Appointments, lateness and cancelling

Most salons work by appointment and some take walk-ins, but colour and bridal work effectively always need booking. A few local habits save trouble:

• Being on time is taken seriously. Slots run back to back, so arriving late means either a shortened appointment or another day.
• The length of the slot follows what you said you wanted. A cut and colour takes several times as long as a cut. Say precisely what you want when booking, or you may arrive to find there is no room for the colour.
• Cancel by phone, and as early as you can. Every salon sets its own notice period and some charge for a no show. Ask that salon rather than assuming the rules of your last one.
• Closing days are not the same as other shops. Many salons close at the start of the week and work weekend evenings instead, so check that day's hours before setting off.

What to ask when you call

• Whether they do the specific thing you want, and who in the salon does it.
• What the total comes to with everything included, and whether they take cards or need cash.
• For colour, when and how the allergy test has to be done.
• How much time is set aside for you, and how long the whole appointment runs.
• How late you can cancel, and whether a missed appointment is charged.
• For bridal work: whether there is a trial session, whether a deposit is taken and whether it is refundable, and whether they travel to you.
• Whether there is a separate room, a covered window or a private slot.
• Who there speaks Persian, and whether that person would be doing your hair.

Choosing from this list

Two different choices hide behind one page. For cuts and roots you want somewhere you can return to every few weeks without thinking about it, so being near home or on the way to work genuinely decides it. For a wedding or a one-off it is a single visit, worth travelling further and booking earlier. The city list at the foot of the page narrows the results to where you live.

Read the reviews at their own size. A review tells you what service one person got on one day and whether they were happy with it: timekeeping, how they were treated, how clean the place was, whether the result was what they asked for. It is not a verdict on how good a hairdresser is, because every head of hair is different and the same hands give a different result on the next one. Several reviews saying the same thing are worth more than one on its own.

Contact details sit behind "Show contact details" on each profile and go straight to the salon. That you pressed it, or which profiles you opened, is recorded nowhere and is never shown to the business owner. The only thing that becomes public is a review you choose to write, under the name you choose to put on it.
