Persian-speaking Allied health in Hamburg

What the Verified badge does and does not say

Who issues the licence in Hamburg

Hamburg is a city and a federal state at once, which shortens the chain. Permission to use the protected title of physiotherapist or speech therapist is granted by the state examination office for health professions, which sits under the Hamburg social affairs authority. If somebody trained in Iran or anywhere else outside the EU, that same office ran the recognition of the qualification and holds the file.

There is no chamber for these professions, so no public register exists in which you can look a name up. On public insurance there is one indirect signal. A contract with the statutory insurers is only issued to a practice that has produced its licence, so a therapist who accepts a public prescription has shown that document to somebody. That is a signal, not a guarantee, and it says nothing about how good they are.

Measure distance here in water crossings, not kilometres

The Elbe cuts Hamburg in two and the crossings are few. Two practices ten kilometres apart on a map can be much further apart in travel time than two practices fifteen kilometres apart on the same bank. For treatment that runs twice a week over six to ten sessions, that difference is not a one-off inconvenience, it repeats every week until the course ends.

So choose the side of the river first and the practice second. If you work on one bank and live on the other, a therapist near your workplace is usually the realistic choice, because the session attaches to a journey you were making anyway instead of adding a new one.

Questions that only apply here

• Do they take a public insurance prescription, or do they work as private and self-pay only?
• How long is it from your call to a first appointment? A prescription has a window in which treatment must start, and a long wait can waste it.
• Do they treat at home? For an elderly person living alone this is the question that decides everything else.
• For a bilingual child, can speech therapy be done in Persian, or will the assessment be in German only?
• YabInfy checks none of this, so ask for it yourself, and ask to see the document where it matters.

If this group is not big enough for you

The set registered in Hamburg does not yet cover every one of these professions. Before you look at another city, remember that allied health is not a single visit: it is ten visits, so travelling between cities for it does not hold up in practice. The better route is to ask the doctor who wrote the prescription which nearby practice already sees Persian-speaking patients, or to bring somebody to the first session so that the treatment plan is understood properly.

Reviews and privacy

Nothing about looking is recorded. We do not store or show who opened a profile or who made contact. The one thing that does become public is a review, if you write one, under a name of your choosing.

If you do write one, write about what you saw for yourself: whether the session started on time, whether they showed you the home exercises or only named them, whether the cost was clear from the start. Whether the treatment itself was the right choice is a decision your doctor made, and this is not the place to argue with it.
