What the Verified badge does and does not say
Verified says one thing only: a real person stands behind this profile and manages it themselves. YabInfy does not check anyone's certificates, licences, experience or competence, and the badge is not for sale. The register of admitted lawyers is kept by the bar association, and for Köln that is the Rechtsanwaltskammer Köln, covering the Köln higher regional court district.
"Specialist" and "focuses on" are two completely different things
Almost nobody explains this distinction, and it is exactly where the wrong choice gets made.
In Germany the title of specialist lawyer is protected, and not everybody may use it. To hold it, a lawyer has to complete a specialist course, sit an examination, and have handled a defined number of real cases in that field. The title is awarded by the bar association and appears in that association's own register.
Phrases such as "our field of work" or "our focus is on", by contrast, carry no requirements at all, and any office can put anything in them. That does not mean inexperience. A lawyer who has worked in a field for years may never have taken the formal title. Just know that one of the two is checkable and the other is not.
So ask one clear question on the first call. Do you hold the specialist title in this field, or is your experience in this area? Either answer may be enough for you. What should not happen is that you read the second sentence and understand the first.
In Köln you have a choice, and distance is no obstacle
Köln has one of the largest lists of Persian-speaking lawyers in the state, and Düsseldorf is half an hour away by regional train. Unlike a small city, you can weigh up several offices.
For a case with court hearings a closer lawyer is more convenient, but it is not decisive, because a great deal of the work is correspondence. What is decisive is that the lawyer has worked in the field your case falls into.

- What does a first consultation cost?
- Will you handle my case yourself, or a colleague in the office?
- How will we communicate, and how quickly do you usually reply?
